Somewhere you visited






These are pictures of the Wartburg in Eisenach, Germany. It is a castle up on a hill, founded in 1067, but mostly rebuilt (with some ancient parts left) in the 19th century. 1999 it was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is most famous for the fact that Martin Luther did hide here in 1521 when he was in conflict with the Roman-Catholic Church. Here he translated the Bible into German language (in only 11 weeks it is said).
